The Fort Wayne Police Department Pipe & Drum Brigade and the Fort Wayne Fire Department Pipe & Drum invite you to the 1^st annual Midwest Pipe and Drum Conference, presented by the Fort Wayne Scottish Pipe and Drum.

          The purpose of this free conference is to set protocol for area line of duty death performances; and to finally get together for a blissful occasion.  The conference will take place at the Fort Wayne Regional Public Safety Academy.  The conference will commence on June 12, 2008 and culminate on June 14 with the mass band performing at the Indiana Highland Games.

          It is our hope to come away from this conference with a set of protocols that will guide us all in the event of a Line of Duty death.  We also hope to develop a play list that will take the guess work out of which songs will be used at these solemn occasions.  This will help aid in the training of new pipers to be ready should any of us receive that dreaded call.

          The Fort Wayne Scottish Pipe & Drum will also be on hand to teach some of the marching skills they use in their competition performances.  This will help us all look more professional when we perform at a line of duty death.

          Arrangements are already under way for this event.  We have secured hotel rooms at the Marriott at a highly reduced rate.  Please RSVP by either contacting Officer Matt Crawford through the Fort Wayne Police Department Pipe & Drum website or contact Officer Jonathan Cutler at (260)414-2886. Please RSVP early as this Hotel fills up quickly during the Highland Games.

          We are still planning the final details of the conference and would welcome any input you might have regarding the content of the conference.
