Message: Yesterday our 6 year journey ended as we observed the Dedication of the new Law Enforcement/Firefighters Memorial (L.E.F.F.M.) Over 250 people signed our Registry with many more not even knowing it was there. The turn out was great and the ceremony was humbling. Once again your entrance was perfection. As we heard the pipes wheezing our look was drawn toward the Historic Bridge and the sight of the Honor Guard descending from its center. Suddenly the Pipers came into view and the wheezing turned into the melody of honor. As you marched closer the chills started their familiar run up and down everyone's back. As you meshed with the Honor Guard and passed before the Fire and Police Monuments, we were brought back to why we were gathered. We were here to honor the 9 police officers, one probation officer and 16 firefighters who died in the line of duty with a permanent home where their names may rest in peace. A home where family members, citizens, brother and sister officers and firefighters may come to contemplate. It's also a place to honor those who continue to serve our communities each day, and a reminder that sometimes the price of safety and peace is extreme. As the names were read and the pipes were played, the prayers were said and the tears began as we remembered that these men left their families to protect our communities and never saw them again. It is inspiring to know that firefighters and others joined your Brigade this day as you paid tribute to these men and their families. Once again, you should be proud as you honored your fellow officers and firefighters. Our gratitude and appreciation are never ending. God Bless!

Message: Today, we finished our seventh Police Officer Memorial Ceremony with tears in our eyes and a lump in our throats. The men and women of your Brigade continue to bring chills to our spines as we listen to the Bagpipers play. Another chilling moment arrives as we hear your Bagpipes playing but we see nothing. Suddenly, from around the corner you appear and the sound intensifies. We hear the gasps of approval from the crowd as everyone strains to get a look and voice their content. Suddenly, attending the ceremony takes on a whole new meaning. For seven years you have participated in all our events and each time, you not only get better, you get more creative. We are very proud when citizens tell us how much they enjoyed your participation in the events. Unfortunately, they are afraid to go back and tell you so they rely on us to relay their compliments. As police officers in our community you have our support and respect as members of the Brigade you have our appreciation and gratitude. Thank you for being there for all of us.
